Jablanac, Croatia is a village and a ferry pier on the coast of the Velebit Channel, 38 km south of Senj. It is located in the back of a deeply indented cove, opposite of the island of Rab. Above Jablanac, there is a mountaineering hut, located on a bluff at 20 m above sea level, the lowest in the whole Croatia. Area around Jablanac abounds in banks and submarine freshwater springs and is therefore the habitat of various fish species. On either side of Jablanac there are coves suitable for anchoring small craft. A bay Zavratnica, very much like a fiord, is a popular tourist destination, since the sea cuts deep into the shore, while Velebit mountain steeply comes down into the sea.
